Curry Powder

Curry powder is a mixture of spices, herbs, and other ingredients that are used to flavor dishes. Curry powder can be found in many different forms around the world. In India, curry powder is made from a blend of roasted cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon sticks and cardamom pods ground together with turmeric and chillies. Thai curry powder is made up of coriander seeds and cumin seeds mixed with chillies and garlic. Malaysian curry powder contains dried shrimp paste and dried shrimp shells as well as red pepper flakes. Jamaican curry powders contain thyme leaves which give it its distinctive flavor. Sri Lankan curry powders are made up of cumin seed, coriander seed and fennel seed along with red chilli flakes while Chinese curry powders have ginger in them.
